I am so excited for August! For once I have so many plans it’s actually getting a bit tricky trying to fit everything in, but that’s absolutely fine by me…
I absolutely cannot wait to spend a long weekend in Barcelona. Despite it being my third visit I still have a to-do list as long as my arm, including watching the fountains at Montjuic, going on the Big Wheel on Mount Tibidabo, relaxing at the beach and watching the Spanish Supercup. There’s something so vibrant about Barcelona that I really love, and it’s been far too long since I’ve had tapas and paella! I might even have to head back to Mint for another one or two of their gorgeous mojitos… Insert heart-eyed emoji here…
Birthdays and anniversaries
It seems to be party galore in August, as I already have a birthday fancy-dress garden party, a 100th birthday celebration and a fruit-themed anniversary in the calendar. My friends’ anniversary parties are always unique, with activities in previous years including paper games, hobby horse racing and cocktail making, so who knows what they have up their sleeves for this one. And anyway, maybe I’ll combine two of the parties and dress up as a giant melon or something.
Hope Support Services (ie where I work) is lucky enough to be this year’s chosen charity for Ollie Fest. This annual festival was set up in memory of Ollie Floyd who tragically lost his life in 2015, and the local community are really getting behind it which is lovely to see. I must say that sometimes work isn’t all that bad…
It’s been a while since I’ve visited the capital, but my friend and I are heading across to Autumn Ruin’s show at the Garage. We’ve already planned brunch and some exploring time, and I’m really looking forward to spending some time together and having a catch up. The gig itself will be a little bittersweet as it’s the lovely Rob Lafferty’s last show, but we’re sure he’ll go out with a bang…
Planning for Poland
I might have gone a little bit crazy when I saw the words ‘Ryanair’ and ‘sale’ and booked an impromptu little trip to Poland. I’ll be heading to Warsaw, Krakow, Zakopane and Gdansk, so will be busy booking hostels and excursions – if anyone has any tips or must sees, please leave me a comment!
